Clarck, what is Art?

Art is one of the most powerful, meaningful modes of expression. Art is how you feel and how you make others feel.

How do you experience your collectors?

I try to keep in touch with my buyers and potential buyers. It’s important. They can share their experience with other people around them. Again, it’s about how you make them feel about you and your Art.

What defines a “good gallery” for you?

A good gallery… A good asset to promote and share with the right people, but also a good space to let the Art speak by itself.

Your opinion on “art and the art market”?

Make sure you are a shark swimming with the sharks.

Is art passion and/or investment?

I think Art is both a passion and an investment and I think one can’t go without the other. It’s like a locomotive. The coal helps the fire to keep burning and make the train move forward. But you have to have the fire. That’s the passion. If it’s the only thing you have, you’ll go slow and not that far, so you need more coal. On the other hand, you can have all the coal in the world and no fire. Money can be spent, but without the passion I see it more of a waste than anything else. I don’t know if you get my point!

Artist – a dream job?

Dream Job… You have to sleep to dream in the first place. If you sleep…you might miss something. It’s job. Not a dream job. A job. If it’s in you… It’s your job, your life. You have to work at it and embrace it. To say that something is a „dream“ means that in some way you don’t want it to happen. You shouldn’t be afraid of it. I am an artist. This is my job.

What dream in the arts should come true?

What dream should come true… again, whatever you wish. Just make it happen!

Who is your favorite artist?

I don’t have a favorite artist. I take inspiration and motivation from a lot of people. I love Basquiat, I love Kaws, I love KanYe West, I love John Coltrane, I love my Mom. These people among others had/have the ability to create such complex and simple things at the same time that it makes you feel something. That’s the most important thing.

What is your favorite work of art?

The human being. It’s such a complex thing full of thoughts and feelings that collide or fuse together. We are like small universes. Just by looking at us you can imagine the infinite possibilities of the Universe that shelters us.

What is your favorite color?

My favorite color is navy blue, although, I tend not to use it in my paintings. It means depth, void, it’s cold. Navy is the new black. Navy is the sea, powerful, elegant, mysterious.

Dear Clarck, many thanks for this interview and all the best for the future!
